Colour Trends: Green

January 24, 2019

We’re always looking for great ways to incorporate colour into the spaces we design and one trend we’ve been loving lately is green paint. We fell in love with green a few years ago but the trend doesn’t show any signs of slowing down – we’ve been seeing it more and more all over Instagram and Pinterest, and it always seems to look fresh and interesting. We love working with green because it adds such a warm and earthy colour to a room, but it somehow still feels totally neutral.

We’re so obsessed with how the kitchen at Project Westgrove turned out. We used Benjamin Moore’s Tate Olive and couldn’t be happier with the deep green hue. We paired it with crisp white tiles and a dark soapstone countertop to really make the colour stand out. We love how the green makes this kitchen feel moody, rich, and totally unique.

This space from Project Helena is such a great example of how adding in bold colour can make a simple area feel decidedly special. We knew our client’s would be using the back entrance to their home frequently, so we wanted to make sure it had all the function of a typical mud room. As an added challenge the area would be visible from much of the main living space, so we wanted to make sure we chose a colour that our client’s wouldn’t tire of. The subdued green paint we chose – Benjamin Moore’s Chimichurri – helped transform this space into one of our favourite spots in the house!

If you want to add green in your home but aren’t ready to fully commit, try experimenting with it in a room that you don’t use every day. In the guest bath at Project Humewood, we painted a little more than half way up the wall with Benjamin Moore’s Army Green and kept the rest of the colour palette simple. This shade of green is neutral enough that it feels timeless, while still being a fun alternative to grey or white – we promise you won’t get sick of it!

Picking the right green can seem overwhelming – so we put some of our favourites together for you below!
